The Challenge We Face
At the heart of the SoeBrown Scholarship Foundation's mission lies a pressing challenge: the systemic barriers that disproportionately affect Black and Hispanic young adults in the Greater Hartford area, hindering their access to education and mental wellness resources. This issue is not just a symptom but a consequence of historical injustices, societal neglect, and a lack of culturally competent support systems.

By providing SoeBrown Scholars with renewable scholarships, we help to eliminate financial barriers, ensuring Black and Hispanic students from the Greater Hartford area can seize higher education opportunities without the burden of economic constraints.
Supporting Wellness
We provide all SoeBrown Scholars with access to free, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed counseling. Our commitment to mental wellness ensures every scholar has the support they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Community & Mentorship Network
Through mentorship and a strong support network of community leaders, professionals, and peers, we equip our scholars with the guidance, resources, and community connections crucial for their success and growth.

I've seen the deep disparities facing Black and Brown youth in our communities, their potential stifled by the lack of mental health resources. We're committed to breaking these barriers, offering care that respects their unique stories and empowers them to thrive. Our goal is more than therapy; it's creating a space where they can shine, affirming their worth and guiding them towards a future filled with hope and resilience.
